Can precast be inspirational and beautiful?

This question we are often asked. Our answer is definitely yes! I’m glad to notice that this thought is more and more widely accepted and also applied around the world.

Since the late 1990s Graphic Concrete  has been working with projects ranging from industrial buildings to schools, hospitals and commercial and residential buildings.

Industrial precast building

H.A.N.S., Industrial Precast Building, Czech Republic. Construction year: 2009.

Our core idea is to create premium precast concrete surfaces and that way inspire people in their everyday environments. Preferences vary from a region to region. When Southern European and Arabian consumers prefer strong and clear ornaments on their building surfaces, Northern Europeans are more into non-figurative patterns and textures. One of the top surfaces has lately been nature in its various representations.

We call these surfaces graphic concrete – according to our patented technology. We offer a real industrial and cost efficient product for large-scale surfaces, which can also be visually creative.

Precast slabs

Today the technology is a proven concept within the prefabrication concrete industry. Versatile buildings demonstrate the vast range of graphic concrete applications in e.g. facades, walls and pavement slabs. All these are possible without compromising the uniqueness of a building and the vision of an architect.

One important point is, that graphic concrete is not an additional cost. Every precast concrete facade or wall has always a surface. So it is more a choice between inspirational and monotonic surface than anything else.

Precast production lifecycle, part 1

Setting-up a profitable precast production is not a piece of cake. Instead, it is a quite complicated puzzle with contradictory interests of city planners, architects, investors, builders, precasters and most of all – users of the buildings. Or is it so?

Precast as a building method

It is only precast that enables building of large open areas without partition walls. Or creation of public schools with world-famous waterproof art on the facades.

Building construction planning

Precast can be amazingly flexible building method. Cooperation of architects, structural designers and technology developers has concretized most innovative buildings in the era of industrialized building construction.

Close cooperation of architects, structural designers and technology developers create innovations

When designing modern minimalistic villa or busy business center, precast is a choice of pragmatists. Precast walls are sound insulated and fire and moisture resistant. Precast also reduces need for cooling and heating.

Precast saves materials and resources in the building phase. In structural design, cooperation with precast technology supplier can actually save money in the building process.

Precast as a building method

Precast production investment is as heavy as you want. There are multiple precast products and production options. You can build the whole house with precast. You can also set-up the whole production outdoors or have it totally automated. Or then you can acquire only one tilting table for a small-scale production of varying  precast products.

When the demands of factory capacity, flexibility and level of automation are clear, precast technology and machinery supplier can provide you with preliminary production plan. As a one-stop-supplier, Elematic can also support in finding the best production practices.

Consult Elematic to find the optimal precast production solution

From precast production plan, profitability calculations can be processed for your feasibility study. The factory layout draft is normally provided with the supply contract. From the corporate investment planning perspective, it is good to reserve 0.5-1 year for production solution definition.

Precast for Life

Have you ever thought what might be the smallest precast product in the world? We found it out with the Red Cross, one of the largest global development aid organizations. The product is called “latrine”, a common and easy sanitation solution widely used in developing countries.

Latrines are built of a precast plate, sheltering walls and a hole in the ground. They play a critical role in improving the hygiene and health of families and communities. Local artisans have skills to build the latrines by their community requirements.

Precast for Life by Elematic

Elematic invites you to join Precast for Life, the community project for the Red Cross, at BAUMA 2013

At BAUMA 2013, Elematic is joining the Red Cross to supply 400 latrines to improve life of 2400 people. Our goal is to collect 400 hand prints during the fairs. Join our community project, Precast for Life, and leave your hand print at our BAUMA stand B1 313/414.
